Welcome to The Ridgeway Practice, now part of the Beacon Medical Group
On 1st April 2014, the Ridgeway Practice merged with two other local GP practices - Plym River and Ivybridge Medical Practice. Partners from across the three practices were keen to come together to improve patient access, choice and support. Since then, we have been able to offer extended opening hours, access to new services - including a minor injuries unit and new dermatology and muskuloskeletal services.
We have surgeries on four separate sites and care for around 33,000 patients. In this interim period, we are making a number of changes behind the scenes to improve quality and consistency. At Plympton Health Centre, patients will see the biggest physical changes with a new merged reception and dedicated prescriptions desk.
However, for most patients there will not be many changes that directly affect them. You will be able to access the same Ridgeway Practice team as before; and those patients that use services at Plympton Health Centre will be offered the opportunity to be seen by alternative doctors and clinical support to ensure a quicker response.

We provide a full range of medical services including on-site minor surgery. We also provide care for patients in a number of local nursing homes and residential care homes.
All members of the team undertake regular training in order to stay up-to-date with the latest development in healthcare. We have a strong relationship with the Peninsula Medical School and train a number of GP Registrars across our sites.
Automatic Extraction of Patient Data
The Department of Health intends to extract some personal data about patients from the practice's clinical records system. To learn more, please click here.
Patient Survey 2013-14
We conducted a survey of our patients at each of our surgeries towards the end of 2013 and we have written a report explaining the process we went through and detailing the results. If you wish to view the report, click here.
